We feature independent Filipino musicians, comedians, writers, and other creatives on our website and in our monthly print magazine, whether their work sits inside the box or far outside it. Features are free. Here’s how the process works.
Feature Process
- Apply. Fill out the form on our Get Featured page with your name, email, and how you’d like to do the interview.
- Answer our questions. We send you a set of interview questions. Answer them in your own words, at your own pace.
- Get published. Once we receive your answers, we write your feature and publish it on excapelabs.com.
- Print, by theme. Each monthly print issue has its own theme. We select creatives for print based on how their story fits it.

What kinds of creatives does Excapelabs feature?
We feature independent Filipino creatives across disciplines: musicians and bands, comedians, writers and authors, photographers, filmmakers, and others whose work doesn’t fit a single label. We also cover the people and places that keep the scene going, like gig organizers, artist managers, and venues. If you make something original, we want to hear the story behind it.
Who can apply to be featured on Excapelabs?T
Any independent Filipino creative from anywhere in the Philippines can apply. You might be playing your first gig, doing your first open mic, publishing your first zine, or already building a following of your own. Solo creatives and groups are both welcome. Wherever you are in your journey, we want to hear the story behind your work.
How do I get featured on Excapelabs as an indie artist or creative?
Fill out the Get Featured form on excapelabs.com. We’ll send you our interview questions, which you can answer in a Google Doc at your own pace or through a Google Meet interview with us. Once your answers are in, we turn them into a feature and publish it on the Excapelabs website. Features are free for independent artists and creatives.
Is there a fee to be featured?
No. Excapelabs does not charge independent artists or creatives for editorial features, whether they run on our website or in a print issue. Fees only apply to sponsored topics, promotional features, and advertisements included in the magazine. If you’re interested in one of those, message us and we’ll send you the details.
How are features chosen for the print magazine?
Each monthly print issue has its own theme, and we select creatives whose stories fit it. For example, AghostO, our August issue, was built around ghost month. Because selection depends on the theme, we can’t promise a print spot to everyone who applies. Anyone featured on our website may be considered for an upcoming issue when their story matches its theme.
